Revilla files bill to institutionalize elderly care
To ease the burden of poor families unable to provide care and support for their ageing loved ones, Sen. Bong Revilla on Monday filed a bill seeking to establish and institutionalize an elderly and nursing complex in local government units throughout the country.
The veteran senator believes that the government has to step in to ensure that the country's elderly, especially those from the marginalized sector, will be provided with 24-hour professional health care in facilities which will serve as their "second home."
The proposed elderly and nursing complexes aim to benefit Filipino senior citizens aged 60 and above. Once enrolled in the nursing complex, they will be looked after by trained DOH and DSWD personnel.
An initial P50 M will be appropriated for the project.
