Senate approves resolution honoring, commending Filipino teachers
The Senate has approved Resolution No. 142 filed by Sen. Bong Revilla honoring and commending Filipino teachers for their hard work and commitment to shaping learners of all generations.
The veteran lawmaker's resolution is based on Presidential Proclamation No. 41 (s. 2010) which declared the 1st Friday of September to October 5 as National Teachers' Month, and later, Proclamation No. 242 (s. 2011), formally designating September 5 to October 5 of every year as National Teachers' Month.
Revilla believes that Filipino teachers take on an indispensable role in molding the country's future. Thus, he called on all Filipinos to use the occasion to pay tribute to the indelible contribution of teachers in educating the youth to maximize their potentials and become productive and globally-competitive citizens in the future.
Prior to the filing of his resolution, Revilla has filed several bills seeking to augment the salary of teachers, and additional benefits to help uplift the lives and condition of local educators.
