Anti-Terrorism Act of 2005
Terrorism is one of the biggest threats against humanity and the welfare of the Filipino people. With acts of violence and terror attacks happening left and right brought out by disagreements amongst communist terrorists and insurgents, our national security is put in jeopardy.
As an advocate of the welfare of the Filipino public and in an effort to fight the act of terrorism which has grown rampant in the Philippines, Sen. Bong Revilla sponsored the Anti-Terrorism Act of 2005 to secure the country and protect the Filipinos from all kinds of terrorism. The State recognizes that the threat of Terrorism is not only on a national level but also on a global scale, therefore it encourages to maintain cooperation with other nations to ensure that the fight against the heinous crime is in accordance with the United Nations’ resolutions.
The law ensures peace-building efforts through adopting efficient and effective counter measures, considering the root cause of terrorism and duly penalizing offenders. He firmly believes that the Filipino people should be guaranteed their fundamental rights and freedom and feel safe in their own country.
